Markus' childhood was pretty uneventful. He grew up in a typical upper middle class home. His parents sent him to private school out of a desire to see him prosper into something more remarkable. It was there he met his friends, Baxter, PJ, and Robert. He would find himself an early bloomer, becoming a fairly tall and large intimidating figure depsite his gentle nature. Markus' size would often scare others even if he was trying to help them. He would learn to embrace him size and use it to frighten others into avoiding conflict.
In his later school years he would end up dating a girl who wasn't offput by his large stature. During the relationship he would enjoy her company but realized he didn't particularly feel much different about her than his friends. In fact, he realized he had much stronger feelings for his friend, Baxter. After a typical teenage breakup he would later confide his friends this new revelation, leaving out his crush for Baxter. Markus was aware of Baxter's upbringing and knew it was going to take patience before he would fully understand. Bittersweetly this understanding would come but at a cost of Baxter's family life. Depsite knowing better he still felt guilty about this and would convince his parents to house Baxter for the few years until college.
Thanks to some help from PJ and his family ties they were all able to enroll into the same college. During college Markus was able to better experiment with his newfound sexuality. One of the first people he hooked up with was a jackalope by the name of Jericho. They both knew it was nothing serious as Markus just wanted the experience and Jericho was upfront about not wanting a relationship. After a few casual encounters they would end this arrangement and Markus would introduce Jericho to the others. Jericho would end up fitting into the friend group very quickly.
Baxter and the others would end up dropping out of college. Markus wasn't on board with the idea but not wanting to be away from his friends and his crush he would end up following suit. They would find themselves in Oakland, Jericho's hometown. Jericho would start a gang and Markus would be thrust into a "captain" position. He didn't mind much as long as he was with his friends. He tends to stick to Baxter to ensure nothing happens to him, almost like a guardian angel. His large size makes him no push over. He has been shown to get physical when necessary or in order to protect his friends.
