Profile

All his life Avery wanted to do one thing, bring justice to those who needed it most. Growing up he used to idolize those who he thought were doing just that, his local police department. He was always told how the police are the good guys fighting the bad guys and keeping everyone safe. He would end up following through on that goal and join the Oakland City Police Department.

Now suited with a badge and a gun, he was able to experience first hand what it's like to be an officer of the law. He did everything by the books, was quick to any serious calls, and handled any situation with the nuance and care it deserved. After being on the force for a bit he started to notice that his fellow officers weren't quite taking the job as serious as he was. In fact, his co-workers would often get in his way. They'd be quick to dismiss genuine calls for help or not take them serious at all. They were unnecessarily rough with people, would take bribes, and on multiple occasions he would see them planting evidence.

It was clear to him, these were corrupt cops. He documented every instance of corruption he could from his fellow officers before going directly to the police chief, Fenrir. Fenrir at first seemed very supportive of his findings, telling Avery that he'd "personally deal with these officers" before seeing Avery out of his office. Avery has happy to hear those words but couldn't help but get a weird feeling about Fenrir. Weeks later he noticed that nothing really changed and the same corrupt officers never missed a day of work. He would see the same horrid behavior and illicit acts from these officers and others he hadn't caught before.

Fuming, he rushed into Fenrir's office once again demanding something be done about this. He told Fenrir that it was unacceptable the amount of corruption he was seeing day to day. Unlike last time, Fenrir wasn't so kind. Avery found himself back against the wall, Fenrir's claws at his throat. Fenrir told him in no uncertain terms that Avery should keep his head down and follow his orders or turn in his badge and gun. He did just that. He quit, and walked right out of the precinct. Disillusioned with police work as a whole, he turned to becoming a private investigator.

Despite thinking he would be able to bring real justice, jobs were slow. He would typically end up handling small scale civil cases. His standout case was being able to help rightfully convict a police officer who had killed someone in "self defence." Thanks to Avery's skills, it was proved without a doubt to be police brutality. It wouldn't be until recently he'd get his next big case. A tall hare named Minnet, a journalist who had broken a couple of exposés requested his help with her current investigation. Once she mentioned that he covered the corruption in the OCPD, he agreed.
